These attacks can disrupt vital services, compromise national security, and have global implications. The UNSC has the authority to impose economic sanctions, arms embargoes, and other measures to pressure parties involved in conflicts to cease hostilities or adhere to international norms. It can also authorize the use of force to restore peace, as seen in cases of peace enforcement.

Threats to International Peace and Security

The council addresses issues that pose a threat to international peace and security, such as terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and transnational crime.

Humanitarian Crises
